Windsor Rose

Roses have been used in cosmetics since the earliest times. In Ancient Greece, Galen combined rose water with beeswax to produce the first moisturising creams. In medieval times, rose petals were being boiled with sugar and water to produce a syrup valued for its astringent and tonic properties.
A popular remedy dating from the seventeenth century was 'Mel Rosa'. Made by combining rose water with honey, it was well known for its emollient effects on the skin. Mindful of this, we include honey (Mel) as an ingredient in our 'Windsor Rose' hand cream.
